Port Gdański Eksploatacja expands grain storage and processing capacities.

Port Gdański Eksploatacja (PGE), part of the Gdańsk Port Authority (ZMPG) group of companies, is planning a large-scale expansion of its capacities. The project will include the construction of nine new grain warehouses, which will increase storage volumes to 152 thousand tons per year, almost five times more than the current figures. In addition, the cargo handling capacity will increase from 0.7 million tons to 2.9 million tons per year.

The project is being implemented jointly with ZMPG, which ensures state control over the development of infrastructure and conditions for storing grain. This will allow PGE to strengthen its position in the Polish grain export market and become one of the key players in the region.

The new warehouses will be located on the Vistula and Szczecin quays. Five of them will appear on the Vistula quay, and four on the site of the former container terminal on Chodackiego Street. The total length of these berths is 1.9 km, which allows servicing vessels with a deadweight of up to 36,000 tons and a draft of up to 10.6 m.

Over the past three years, PGE has invested over PLN 153 million in modern equipment and infrastructure. Among the acquisitions are Liebherr LHM 550 and LHM 280 mobile cranes, a conveyor belt for loading bulk materials, and new storage areas. These efforts, along with the reconstruction of berths and railway lines in the port, allow doubling the capacity for grain handling and strengthening Gdansk’s role as an important logistics hub.
