Hannibal launches a new intermodal route in Italy.

On December 3, 2024, Hannibal, a subsidiary of Contship Italia Group, will launch a new intermodal service between Melzo railway station (Milan area) and Marcianise-Maddaloni terminal (near Naples). The train will operate twice a week: from Melzo departures are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from Marcianise on Wednesdays and Fridays.

From the beginning of 2025, the company plans to increase the schedule to three services per week. The new route is designed to transport all types of containers using low-profile wagons, providing a capacity of up to 32 units per train. Traction will be provided by Oceanogate, a freight rail operator and part of Contship Group.
