A delegation from Los Angeles, led by US Ambassador Natalie Reyes, visited the Port of Rijeka. During the visit, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Port of Rijeka Authority and the largest US port, the Port of Los Angeles. The document was signed by Deputy CEO of the Port of Los Angeles David Libatique and CEO of the Port of Rijeka Denis Vukorepa.
The memorandum will form the basis for strengthening business cooperation between the ports and exchanging experience in the field of sustainable development of port systems. Key areas of cooperation include infrastructure modernization, improvement of operations, implementation of environmental measures and expansion of trade opportunities.
During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the work of the new container terminal Rijeka Gateway, which plays an important role in the development of the Port of Rijeka. The Port of Los Angeles, a leader in container transportation in North America, shares its experience of efficient and environmentally sustainable cargo flow management at the global level.
