CMA CGM and German terminal operator Eurogate have announced the joint development of a new container terminal, Westerweiterung, in the Port of Hamburg. The new terminal will have two berths, 450 and 600 metres long, which will allow it to handle mega container ships.
Westerweiterung will have a capacity of 2 million TEU per year. This project is part of an expanded development plan for the Port of Hamburg, in which international carriers such as COSCO, MSC and Grimaldi have already invested.
