Seven new rail connections have been announced across Europe in July 2024, significantly improving the continent’s logistics infrastructure. MOVE Intermodal has launched an intermodal service between Venlo in the Netherlands and Novara in Italy, providing six departures per week. METRANS has launched a new regular service between Duisburg and Poznań, which now includes semi-trailer transport, while Trans Italia and Tramesa have launched a signature train connecting Valencia and Madrid.
In addition, Green Cargo, in cooperation with other companies, has started service from Malmö to Rheinkamp, Germany, with possible extension of the route to Austria, Belgium and France. Raillogix has implemented a multimodal solution connecting Rotterdam and Antwerp to the Halle Saale Container Terminal. These new routes promise to increase the frequency and volume of traffic, reduce transport distances and delivery times, and provide the ability to transport a variety of types of cargo, including semi-trailers and containers.
New rail connections also help reduce CO2 emissions by shifting freight transport from road to rail. These changes are aimed at increasing the efficiency of logistics processes and improving the environmental situation in Europe.
