JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) took part in the V Forum of the coal industry “Development of the coal chemical industry: technological achievements and prospects”, which took place in Astana. Experts discussed key issues of coal production and export, global trends in the coal market and supply logistics.
The forum noted that in the last heating season, from May 2023 to April 2024, 103 million tons of coal were transported by rail. Of this volume, 73.5 million tons of coal were shipped throughout the republic, and 29.5 million tons were exported. KTZ predicts that in the upcoming heating season of 2024–2025, the volume of coal transportation across the country will remain at about 74 million tons.
To improve monitoring and control of coal transportation, KTZ has developed an interactive system that allows you to track and analyze plans and actual loading of coal. Every year, KTZ holds meetings with representatives of government agencies and shippers on organizing summer coal transportation. In May, meetings were held with coal mines, where issues of routing and uniformity of transportation in the summer were discussed.
