RCG transfers TransFER Hungary-Germany from Neuss to Duisburg.

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is relocating its high-frequency TransFER service between Hungary and Germany from Neuss to Duisburg. Duisburg and Budapest are critical hubs for European rail freight, with Budapest serving as a major conduit for the Southern and South-Eastern European markets through the BILK terminal. This terminal facilitates connections not only to Western Europe but also to Eurasia, enhancing Budapest’s strategic importance in Central Europe.

Duisburg, recognized as one of the world’s largest inland ports and a key logistics center in Germany, significantly contributes to the distribution and handling of goods across Europe. The new non-stop TransFER link between Budapest and Duisburg offers substantial logistical benefits, providing fast and reliable rail transport with a fixed timetable and competitive transit times. This service operates five round trips per week, ensuring flexibility and high frequency for customers.

The TransFER Budapest-Duisburg route supports various loading units, including 20-ft, 30-ft, 40-ft, and 45-ft containers, as well as swap bodies and non-craneable trailers. This adaptability allows the transport of diverse cargo types, including dangerous goods (RID), making it a versatile and sustainable option for freight transport across Europe.
