The Port of Antwerp increases the security and transparency of accounting for certified fence systems

The completion of the final phase of Certified Pick up (CPu) implementation at container terminals before the locks on February 19 marks a significant milestone for Antwerp’s container transport. This digitalization initiative enhances both safety and transparency in the logistics chain, representing a pivotal moment for the industry. Efforts are now focused on integrating terminals beyond the locks into the CPu system, further streamlining operations.

Each day, approximately 3,000 containers are collected from Antwerp’s port area by truck drivers, with operations currently managed through a centralized information system. CPu, developed by NxtPort, revolutionizes this process as the first digital platform to prioritize safety and transparent communication. Through CPu, every stakeholder in the supply chain receives real-time updates, offering multifaceted benefits to all involved parties.

Safety lies at the heart of CPu’s design. Containers can only leave the Antwerp port via inland navigation ship, train, or truck upon CPu’s certified release, which is authenticated by identity rather than pin codes. This stringent protocol ensures accountability throughout the container-handling process, effectively mitigating risks and enhancing overall safety standards. Furthermore, CPu ensures complete transparency in the customs process, with containers only permitted to depart the quay upon receiving clearance from customs authorities.
