Swiss InterRail Group introduces successful reefer container transports across Europe-Asia route

The Swiss InterRail Group achieved a milestone last year with the successful execution of its inaugural reefer container transports between Asia and Europe. In a strategic expansion for the current year, the transportation company has now incorporated temperature-controlled rail transport into its regular service offerings.

Utilizing advanced diesel-powered 45-foot pallet wide reefer containers on the Europe-Asia route, InterRail ensures independent cooling or heating capabilities across different modes of transport. Continuous monitoring of container performance and internal temperature, coupled with daily detailed reports, provides customers with comprehensive information about their goods. With a capacity of up to 33 euro-pallets per refrigerated container, optimal air circulation is maintained. Temperature-controlled rail transport offers numerous advantages, including faster delivery compared to sea transport, cost-effectiveness in comparison to air freight, and the elimination of goods transshipment along the route.

One noteworthy instance of success occurred in late summer when InterRail transported 13.5 tonnes of premium Swiss chocolate from Basel to Shanghai. Operating at a set point of 12°C, the reefer container proved its reliability even under extreme outside temperatures reaching up to 42°C. Another testament to its effectiveness was demonstrated in the transportation of miso ramen soups from Shanghai to Hamburg, where the reefer container safeguarded the goods at a set point of 10 °C amidst a lowest outside temperature of -27 °C.
