A meeting dedicated to the implementation of a dredging project within the waters of the Port of Aktau was held in Astana, chaired by Vice-Minister of Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov. The discussion was attended by representatives of “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” NC JSC, “Aktau International Sea Trade Port” NC JSC, as well as the contracting firm, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd.
The parties reviewed the current status of the project and the progress of preparatory activities. The contractor reported that the mobilization of specialized equipment and the preparation of the construction site – including work on the dredged material disposal areas – are actively underway. Following the meeting, instructions were issued to accelerate the project’s implementation and ensure adherence to established deadlines.
It was noted that the dredging operations will enable an increase in the throughput capacity of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and enhance the efficiency of Kazakhstan’s maritime logistics, thereby strengthening its transit potential.
