The 15th meeting of the dialogue platform “Kazakhstan-European Union” was held in Astana, at which issues of expanding trade, economic and investment interaction, as well as the joint implementation of projects in the field of transport and logistics were discussed. The European Union remains a key partner of Kazakhstan, providing more than 40% of attracted investments and about 30% of foreign trade.
One of the central topics of the meeting was the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), through which about 85% of goods from China to EU countries pass. Participants emphasized the importance of this route, which provides competitive delivery times (12-15 days), and expressed interest in unlocking the potential of the Middle Corridor. A joint venture “Middle Corridor Multimodal” has already been created on the basis of the Astana International Financial Center, which contributes to the development of the route.
In addition, the importance of the European “Global Gateway” initiative and Kazakhstan’s efforts to improve the business climate were noted. The Ambassadors of the EU and Romania, Kestutis Jankauskas and Madalina Lupu, praised the sustainability and attractiveness of the Kazakh economy for European business. Following the meeting, the participants confirmed their intention to develop and strengthen trade and economic relations, taking the strategic partnership to a new level.
