Руководство АО «Азербайджанские железные дороги» (ADY), входящего в холдинг AZCON, провело видеоконференцию с председателем правления Пакистанских железных дорог Сайедом Мазхаром Али Шахом. В ходе встречи стороны обсудили возможности увеличения объёмов грузоперевозок, интеграции портов, реализации совместных инвестиционных проектов и развития транспортных маршрутов через территорию Азербайджана и Пакистана в рамках коридора «Восток-Запад».
Particular attention was paid to the potential for using various directions on the South Asia-Caucasus-Europe route for the mutual exchange of goods. The participants expressed support for the development of a multimodal transport corridor that connects the continents through Azerbaijan and passes through China, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan.
As part of bilateral cooperation, the parties exchanged views on pilot projects, including the development of the Pakistan-Azerbaijan Express and pilot cargo transportation Pakistan-Iran-Azerbaijan. The role of Gwadar Port in Pakistan and the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor in strengthening transport links were also discussed.
