Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree on the reorganization of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC by merging Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC with it. This decision is aimed at increasing the efficiency of transport operations and optimizing logistics processes in the field of rail and sea transportation.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to develop and submit proposals within three months to improve the regulatory framework necessary for the implementation of the reform. At the same time, the Azerbaijan Transport and Communications Holding must approve the new charter and structure of the reorganized enterprise. It is expected that the unification of the railway and port infrastructure will help strengthen Azerbaijan’s position as a key transit hub in the region.
