cargo-partner, part of NIPPON EXPRESS HOLDINGS, INC., is expanding its electric truck testing program in Europe. Following successful pilot projects in Austria and Slovakia, the initiative will also cover Slovenia from June 2024. The electric truck testing program is part of the company’s sustainability strategy “ROAD (Reducing Our Atmospheric Dependencies)”.
In Slovenia, cargo-partner tested the Scania P25 electric truck, designed for urban, suburban and intercity transport. This truck is capable of transporting up to 20 tons of cargo and has a range of 200 to 250 kilometers on a single charge. The tests were carried out mainly for daily collections and deliveries around cargo-partner’s logistics center in Ljubljana, with energy consumption results comparable to the tests in Austria and Slovakia.
The electric truck testing program is part of the company’s broader environmental strategy. In May this year, cargo-partner received a bronze medal from EcoVadis for its sustainability efforts. The company also implemented air freight solutions using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and installed solar panels on the roof of its logistics center in Ljubljana, which will cover 34% of energy needs and save 146 tons of CO₂ per year.
In addition to emission-free transport solutions, cargo-partner focuses on rail transport as a sustainable alternative. In June, the company launched a number of intermodal transport solutions in Europe, including Turkey, the UK and Ireland, and expanded its cooperation with HHLA Pure for climate-neutral rail transport in Europe.
