Central Asia is expecting a sharp increase in cargo transportation.

Central Asia is expected to see significant growth in freight traffic, reaching 1.7 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent units) by 2030. This forecast, presented by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), indicates a significant expansion of the region’s logistics capabilities.

A key role in this development is played by the Eurasian Transport Network (ETN), which includes five international transport corridors: the Northern Eurasian Corridor, the Central Eurasian Corridor, TRACECA (Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia), the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) and the International Transport Corridor ” North-South” (MTK “North-South”). These corridors link Asia, Europe and the Middle East, forming the basis of the ETC.

The EDB notes that the integration of these transport corridors could increase freight volumes by 40%, boosting trade and reducing transport costs. The development of the ETS aims to improve connectivity, create new logistics capabilities and provide access to international markets, especially for landlocked countries in Central Asia.
