CRCT Kazakhstan: Assessment and prospects of the Caspian route

From December 3 to December 10, 2023, Hao Guochi, General Director of International Logistics CRCT Kazakhstan, and his team traveled to Azerbaijan and Georgia to assess the effectiveness of the Caspian route. Launched in 2017, this 11,000-kilometer transport route currently has a capacity of 6 million tons per year, with plans to reach 10 million tons per year by 2025. In 2022, cargo traffic along the route increased 2.5 times, reaching 1.48 million tons.

The purpose of the trip of Mr. Hao Guochi and his team is to in-depth study the infrastructure of the Caspian route and participate in the construction of the trans-Caspian international transport corridor. During the visit, inspections and negotiations were held with key partners such as Gruzzheldor, the port of Batumi, Azerzheldor, the Azerbaijan Container Company and the port of Baku (Alyat). The importance of the Caspian route has grown since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, providing Western countries with stable alternatives in an environment of low political and economic risk. Company representatives also discussed current transportation challenges and possible improvements in the use of this key transportation corridor.
