DB Cargo transforms its network to strengthen its position in the European market.

German company DB Cargo, which operates in 18 European countries, is launching a major transformation of its logistics network in order to increase the efficiency and flexibility of rail freight transport. More than 60% of the company’s trains cross national borders, making DB Cargo a key player in the transport of raw materials, consumer goods and finished goods across the continent. To strengthen cross-border transport, the company is integrating 12 national units into a single decentralized network, in which operational decisions will be made closer to regional markets.

Specific steps include the introduction of its own driver staff in Sweden, which will ensure greater operational flexibility; the expansion of intermodal services in France and the development of integrated solutions for the growing multimodal logistics segment. In Switzerland, DB Cargo will independently take over the management of transit traffic to Italy from 2026, and in Denmark it will establish a specialized depot for servicing Scandinavian rolling stock.

These initiatives aim to strengthen DB Cargo’s competitiveness in the context of growing demand for sustainable and flexible logistics solutions. The company aims not only to optimize the flow of goods across Europe, but also to become a reliable partner for businesses in the new conditions of cross-border trade.
