DIGITPORTS: Digital transformation of Adriatic ports for safety and ecology.

The DIGITPORTS project, implemented within the Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 program, aims to digitally transform the ports of the Adriatic Sea. The main objective of the project is to implement digital twin technology to improve safety and environmental friendliness of operations in the ports of the region.

DIGITPORTS aims to create a unified strategy and master plan to achieve full digitalization of port systems. The project will develop digital tools that will help port authorities optimize planning processes, reduce carbon emissions and improve resource efficiency. One of the key areas will be supporting the digital transformation of administrative procedures and the transition to more sustainable management practices.

The project will focus for the first time on the application of digital twin technology and artificial intelligence for port ecosystems. These tools will be used to more accurately plan operations, reduce infrastructure maintenance costs and improve territorial management. For example, DT will help in concession management, maintaining the depth of port waters and the efficient allocation of berthing places for ships.

The total budget of the project is 2,384,226 euros, of which 289,660 euros is allocated to the Port of Rijeka Authority. 80% of the funding is provided by EU funds, and the project implementation period is 30 months.
