Helrom: new Düsseldorf–Budapest connection.

The new route enables shippers and freight forwarders to reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90 percent.

The connection between Düsseldorf and Budapest began operations on October 2. It runs about 1,200 kilometres. Freight forwarders can deliver trailers until late into the evening. After just 30 hours, they will be ready for collection at their destination the following morning. Daily departures are scheduled in both directions six days a week. Each train transports 36 trailers, yielding a weekly capacity of 432 truck trailers.

“The elimination of special terminals for loading and the ability to quickly and easily place non-craneable truck trailers and refrigerated trailers on the rail enables freight forwarders and shippers to enter the intermodal rail transport market without additional investment,” says Roman Noack, CEO of Helrom.

The catchment areas include Hungary, Slovakia, and sections of Romania, as well as the Ruhr region, Benelux, and the United Kingdom on the Düsseldorf side.
