The new terminal is being built on the basis of a former grain complex and is already undergoing large-scale modernization. The start of container operations is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025. The facility will be connected to the broad and European gauge, which makes it a key logistics link between Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary. At the first stage, the terminal’s capacity will be about 100,000 TEU per year, with the possibility of increasing as demand grows.
HHLA has been operating in Ukraine for over 20 years and manages a container terminal in Odessa, as well as the UIC rail operator. The new terminal in Batyovo will strengthen Ukraine’s logistics integration with the EU, providing a sustainable and efficient corridor from the Black Sea to the ports of Northern and Baltic Europe.
