A contract for a magnetic scan of the seabed was signed at the headquarters of ZMPSiŚ SA as part of the project “Construction of a sea and rail access to the deep-sea container terminal in the outer port of Świnoujście”. The contractor chosen was UXO Marine Sp. z o.o. from Rumia, specializing in geophysical surveys in the Baltic Sea.
The contract was signed by UXO Marine President Jacek Leśniak and Vice Presidents of the Port Krzysztof Sadowski and Arnold Perepeco. The survey will scan the seabed for ferromagnetic objects to ensure the safety of the terminal construction work.
UXO Marine will assess the potential risks associated with the discovery of military objects and prepare data for calculating the costs of their removal. The survey will take place in the area of the eastern breakwater surrounding the LNG terminal in Świnoujście, with the participation of divers, hydrographers and archaeologists.
Ferromagnetic objects include various obstacles on the seabed, such as sunken ships, military shells and metal debris. Scanning equipment can detect even small objects, such as tin cans.
