Kazakhstan’s transport sector demonstrated impressive growth in 2023, attracting a record 2.5 trillion tenge of fixed capital investment. This significant increase of 40.3% compared to the previous year highlights the growing importance of this industry in the country’s economy, whose share of total investment has increased from 10% to 14.5%.
Positive dynamics of investment growth have been observed over the past five years, which is twice as high as in 2019, reaching 2.5 trillion tenge in 2023. More than half of the investments are concentrated in the sub-sector of “warehousing and supporting transport activities”, indicating a desire to strengthen and expand the country’s transport network. The leaders in investment are regions with economic potential, such as Astana, Mangistau and Atyrau regions.
