Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are developing the eastern direction of the North-South corridor.

Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan continue to develop the eastern direction of the international North-South corridor, discussing key projects aimed at increasing cargo flow. Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin and the head of the Turkmen transport agency Mammetkhan Chakyev met in Astana to discuss the construction of the Turgundi-Herat railway, which should strengthen logistics ties with China.

The meeting also discussed issues of optimizing tariffs for transportation along the China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran route, as well as the creation of a single logistics operator for the North-South route. This route will be important for the transit of goods to Pakistan and India, strengthening economic ties in the region.

Further cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan within the North-South corridor is aimed at strengthening the logistics infrastructure and increasing the efficiency of transport routes through Central Asia.
