Aizhan Beiseeva, Transport Corridor Development Advisor for the USAID Central Asia Trade Program, began with the project’s main goal of developing regional trade among Central Asian countries, increasing connectivity, stimulating economic growth, and improving the investment climate. They work with both the public and private sectors to provide technical support to increase trade in new markets and strengthen the Trans-Caspian Route.
The program’s work includes collaboration with local consultants to promote exports, especially through the Trans-Caspian route, as well as with government agencies, including the Kazakh Ministry of Transport, to develop transport infrastructure development strategies. They also organize roundtables and events to raise awareness of the routes and create business opportunities.
“Last year we organized business trips and events to Lithuania, Latvia and the ports of Poti, Batumi and Mersin, and this year we plan to support the port of Kuryk and promote the services of the port of Turkmenbashi. Our work also includes working with customs committees to ensure that customs offices are equipped and meeting agreements are developed.
Our partners are key players in achieving our goals, including the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Business Law Development Program. We actively cooperate with them, especially within the framework of TMTM. We recently held a coordination meeting in Tashkent, where we discussed the initiative to create a coordination platform. This is the third meeting at which the decision to create it was made. We see enormous efforts from both government agencies and the private sector, as well as international donors in the development of this corridor,” shared Aizhan Beiseeva.
