KTZ Express and Georgian Railways have completed a key stage in the digitalization of freight transportation.

The freight division of KTZ Express, together with Georgian Railways and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, have completed the main stage of digitalizing freight transportation between the countries. The project was launched in August 2025 to develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, and in October, the heads of the railway administrations of the three countries approved a joint action plan in Almaty.

As part of the initiative, KTZ Express established secure data transmission channels for the exchange of shipping documents, including railway bills and transit customs declarations. Georgian Railways, in turn, integrated its own digital solutions with the systems of national customs authorities, creating a unified technological transport and logistics process. As a result, the clearance time for transit cargo in Georgia was reduced from 8-9 hours to approximately 40 minutes.

An additional step in developing regional logistics was Georgia’s accession in early February 2026 to the international association Eurasian Transport Route, created by railway administrations of several Central Asian and Caucasus countries to develop integrated logistics products, a unified transportation technology, and a coordinated tariff policy. Concurrently, the implementation of the $4.7 billion China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project is seen as a factor in the formation of the southern branch of the Middle Corridor and the further transformation of regional freight flows.
