JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy begins the introduction of shunting locomotives of the SKD6s series from the Chinese company CRRC Ziyang – the first machines have already arrived in Kazakhstan, successfully passed certification and have been transferred into operation to the subsidiary KTZ-Freight Transportation.
Under the contract, KTZ will receive a total of 62 diesel locomotives: the remaining 38 locomotives are planned to be delivered in the first half of 2026. The new equipment will be used on sections of the Karaganda and Pavlodar branches, as well as in the Astana locomotive depot, which will increase the efficiency of shunting operations.
In parallel, KTZ and CRRC Ziyang are launching the development of service infrastructure – technical service centers will open in Pavlodar and Karaganda, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of new locomotives and contributing to the modernization of the railway industry of Kazakhstan.
