LTG Cargo purchased 500 wagons for grain transportation.

LTG Cargo, a freight company of the LTG group, has purchased 500 wagons for transporting grain crops, some of which will arrive in Lithuania this season. The new cars will significantly increase the company’s transportation capacity, allowing it to additionally transport about 1.2 million tons of cargo per year. It is expected that the first carriages will arrive in Lithuania in the coming months, the remaining 300 by the end of this year. Another 200 cars will be delivered in the first quarter of 2025.

The updated fleet of wagons will be used for domestic transport and cargo delivery to the seaport of Klaipeda, taking into account the growing demand for efficient and sustainable grain transport in the country. Grain transportation accounts for about 13-14% of total cargo volume and continues to grow. One wagon transports 2.5 times more grain crops than freight vehicles, which will reduce the number of grain freight trips on Lithuanian roads by 45,000 per year.

LTG Cargo is also purchasing gondola cars for the transportation of bulk and weather-resistant cargo. Currently, the fleet of grain carriages totals about 1,200 units, which have been offered for this grain season. Maintenance of the wagons will be carried out by LTG Cargo’s professional freight wagon repair team.
