LTG Group accelerates the implementation of Rail Baltica: construction of the largest bridge in the Baltics has begun.

LTG Group, together with the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications, is accelerating the construction of the European railway line Rail Baltica. The head of the department, Eugenijus Sabutis, and the group’s CEO, Egidijus Lazauskas, visited construction sites in the Jonava region, where Lithuanian and Italian contractors are working on a 46.3 km-long section. The first columns of the longest railway bridge in the Baltics have already been erected – its height reaches 40 meters, and its length will be 1.51 km. The bridge crosses the Neris River in the Natura 2000 protected natural area, which requires compliance with high environmental standards.

The project is ahead of schedule: in 2024, construction will cover 114 km of the route, and a third of the work on the bridge across the Neris has already been completed. On the first 10-kilometer section between Switzerland and Žeimiai, more than 40 engineering structures are being installed, and on the section towards Šeta (17.7 km), construction should be completed in early 2025. At the same time, LTG Infra has launched tenders for the construction of an additional 68 km of roadbed and engineering structures.

According to Lazauskas, Rail Baltica is not just infrastructure, but a strategic corridor important for national security, civil and military mobility. It is important to accelerate the work in the direction of Poland and from Kaunas to the border with Latvia. Minister Sabutis emphasized that the project will become a link between the Baltic States and Western Europe, contributing to the sustainable development of the region.
