Maersk opens the largest distribution center in the Philippines.

A. P. Moller – Maersk (Maersk) has inaugurated the Philippines’ largest Maersk Optimus distribution center in Calamba, Laguna, covering an area of 10 hectares. The ceremony was attended by Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. and Secretary of Trade and Industry Cristina A. Roque. The new center will be Maersk’s flagship facility in the Philippines and an important logistics hub for the Southern Luzon region.

President Marcos noted the importance of logistics to the country’s economy and highlighted the role of Maersk Optimus in boosting import and export trade in the southern regions, including Bicol and CALABARZON. He also called for further investment in logistics to make the industry more competitive. With 76,000 pallet spaces and 75 docks, the Maersk Optimus center is equipped with advanced technologies, including the Fleet Operational Control Center, to efficiently manage transport and optimize processes.

Maersk Optimus aims to achieve LEED certification for sustainable technologies such as energy-efficient systems, water conservation, and waste minimization. The center will handle a wide range of operations, including packaging and cargo handling for key industries: consumer goods, food, healthcare, technology, automotive, and retail. Maersk is also actively developing logistics infrastructure in the Philippines, operating nearly 100 warehouses and offering air and truck services across the country.
