Mangistau freight transportation department expands export routes.

The cargo turnover of the Mangystau freight transportation department for 11 months of 2024 increased by 1.3% compared to the same period last year, reaching 6.9 billion ton-kilometers. One of the key achievements was the development of new export routes: for the first time, shipment of ammonium nitrate began through the ports of Aktau and Kuryk along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). This route passes through the Azerbaijani port of Govsan and the Georgian port of Batumi, with plans to ship 50 thousand tons of the product to consumers around the world.

Since September 2024, the port of Kuryk has been actively using a system of direct transshipment of grain from rail cars to ships, which has already made it possible to send 6 ships with a total volume of 24.2 thousand tons. A new grain terminal designed to handle up to 1 million tons of grain per year has also been launched. It is equipped with storage facilities for 27 thousand tons and has already provided the dispatch of 3 vessels with 11.7 thousand tons of grain.

These innovations strengthen the region’s position in international trade, providing effective logistics solutions for the export of grain and chemical products.
