MPC Container Ships (MPCC) has officially unveiled NCL Vestland in Haugesund, Norway, the first of two dual-fuel feeders to join the fleet in 2025. The 1,300 TEU container ship will operate between Norway and Rotterdam under a 15-year charter contract with North Sea Container Line (NCL), supported by long-term partnerships including an agreement with industrial group Elkem.
NCL Vestland is MPCC’s first vessel capable of running on methanol, making it an important step in creating a “green transport corridor” in Northern Europe. MPCC CEO Constantin Baak said the project highlights the importance of collaboration in the decarbonization of the industry.
The new feeder is part of MPCC’s strategy to reduce emissions, extend charter periods and strengthen its competitive position in the market. A second dual-fuel unit will join the fleet later this year.
