PIL unveils eco-friendly vessel “Kota Embun”.

Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) has unveiled its fourth dual-fuel LNG vessel, the Kota Embun, at a ceremony in Shanghai. The vessel is the first in PIL’s fleet to feature a windscreen, which improves aerodynamics and reduces fuel consumption by 1% per year.

The Kota Embun is part of the company’s E-series and underlines the company’s commitment to sustainable shipping. Built at Jiangnan Shipyard, the vessel will operate on the Far East to Central and South America route, improving efficiency and reducing emissions.

PIL CEO Lars Kastrup said the launch of the new vessel is part of a wider fleet renewal, with 14 more LNG vessels expected to be delivered. Since 2022, PIL has ordered 18 new vessels, strengthening its modern, clean fleet.
