The vessel, named by Temasek Trust Chairman Ho Ching, is the second of four O-class container ships and will serve the Asia-West Africa route. The move strengthens logistics links to the region and demonstrates the company’s aggressive fleet modernisation.
PIL CEO Lars Kastrup said the ‘Kota Ocean’ represents a major milestone in the company’s fleet renewal. The company has ordered 18 new vessels, featuring exhaust aftertreatment systems, biomethane plants, hydrodynamic hulls and digital technologies to improve efficiency, with the aim of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
