Poland wants to get a pier in Odessa to access the Black Sea.

Poland could gain direct access to the Black Sea by purchasing or renting a berth in the port of Odessa, said European Commissioner for Agriculture Michal Kolodziejczak. According to him, this idea has not yet been discussed at the official level, although such a step could bring economic benefits to both Warsaw and the whole of Europe.

Kolodziejczak emphasized that having its own terminal in Odessa would significantly reduce logistics costs for exporting Polish and European grain to African countries. He noted that a ton of wheat on the Black Sea costs about 100 zlotys more, since delivery to African ports is cheaper.

In addition, Poland could use broad-gauge railways in Ukraine to transport agricultural products. Such infrastructure integration, according to the European Commissioner, would strengthen Warsaw’s position in the global agricultural market.
