Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov visited the ports of Aktau and Kuryk.

As part of a working trip to the Mangistau region, Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov visited the seaports of Aktau and Kuryk, getting acquainted with the transport and logistics potential of the region. During a visit to the Kuryk port, he learned that since the beginning of the year, the volume of cargo transshipment has exceeded 1.5 million tons, and by the end of the year it is planned to reach 2.2 million tons. Completion of dredging works and the launch of a grain terminal are also expected, which will increase the port’s potential capacity to six million tons per year.

The Prime Minister also got acquainted with the Kazakh-German investment project for the production of “green hydrogen” with a capacity of two million tons. The amount of investment in the project exceeds 50 billion euros and includes the construction of a desalination plant and a 40 gigawatt renewable energy station, which will create 1.8 thousand new jobs. The Aktau Sea Trade Port, a key hub of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, has a throughput capacity of over 11 million tons, with active operation of oil and dry cargo berths, as well as a grain terminal.

Bektenov also received information about plans to build a container hub based on the Aktau port with investment from the Chinese company Lianyungang Port Group of Companies. This project should create favorable conditions for cargo transportation and promote the development of international transport corridors. The Prime Minister emphasized the strategic importance of the Mangistau region within the country’s transport infrastructure.
