PSA unboXed and Amperesand launch pilot project to decarbonize Singapore Port.

PSA unboXed, the venture capital arm of PSA International, has partnered with Amperesand, a specialist in grid infrastructure solutions, to jointly test technologies aimed at decarbonising ports and sustainable logistics. The partnership will see a pilot project using Amperesand’s solid-state transformer (SST) technology at the Port of Singapore, which will form part of PSA’s new electric truck charging stations.

Amperesand’s SST technology provides safe and efficient high-power charging for PSA’s electric fleet, including energy monitoring and management functions. SST-based solutions use silicon carbide (SiC) devices and proprietary high-frequency modules, enabling more efficient power flow and reducing grid strain in a compact size.

The modular and scalable design of the SST will allow PSA to flexibly manage its EV charging stations by efficiently distributing energy across high-power dispensers. Nelson Quek, Regional CEO Southeast Asia, noted that the collaboration is in line with PSA’s broader goal of integrating innovative technologies to modernize its infrastructure.

Head of unboXed and PSA’s Technology and Sustainable Solutions Division, Alvin Fu, added that the results of the preliminary assessment of Amperesand’s technologies look promising. He expressed hope for positive results from the pilot trial, which could significantly enhance PSA’s efforts to achieve sustainable port electrification. PSA will continue to explore innovative technologies to create long-term value for customers and stakeholders.
