The Rail Baltica project has moved to the next stage: Rail Baltic Estonia has signed a contract with INF Infra for the construction of an 8.65-kilometre section of the main route between Kangrū and Saku in Harju County. The section will pass through the Männiku Bog, where special attention will be paid to environmental protection, and will also include pedestrian and cyclist facilities, such as the Kivitee cycling bridge and the Saunanyi tunnel.
The contract value is 67.2 million euros, and the work is scheduled to be completed by February 2028. According to the schedule, three kilometres of embankment and the cycling bridge will be built by the end of 2025, and six kilometres of the route by the end of 2026. The section will form part of a modern high-speed rail connection connecting the Baltic States with the rest of Europe.
Rail Baltica, scheduled for completion in 2030, aims to strengthen regional cooperation, improve passenger and freight transport and contribute to the development of sustainable transport in the Baltics.
