RB Rail AS has started negotiations with participants in the tender for the Rail Baltica signalling system.

RB Rail AS has officially entered a month-long stage of negotiations with companies that submitted initial bids for the Design and Build (D&B) tender for the creation of the control and signalling subsystem (CCS) for the Rail Baltica project. The goal of the negotiations is to finalise the technical and financial proposals in order to select the optimal solution that meets the project requirements and the customer’s budget.

The strongest international players have been admitted to the next stage: GTS Deutschland GmbH (Germany), Hitachi Rail STS S.P.A. (Italy), the Indra Sistemas and AŽD Praha consortium (Spain and the Czech Republic), the SKGN Baltics consortium with Siemens Mobility, GRK Suomi, NRC Group and Kontron Transportation (Germany, Latvia, Finland, Austria), as well as the ALSTOM – COBRA – FIMA association (France, Latvia, Spain, Poland). The contract with the winner is expected to be concluded by the end of 2025.

“Given the scale of this procurement, the commission has invested significant time to ensure that all requirements and criteria are clearly defined and well understood. The CCS subsystem is a critical component of the railway infrastructure – it is essential for ensuring safe operations, smooth cross-border train movement, and efficient traffic management across the Rail Baltica network,” said Aiga Benfelde, Acting Head of Procurement at RB Rail AS and Chairperson of the Procurement Commission.
