The Rhenus Group has taken a major step forward in logistics solutions with the introduction of a new Sennebogen 870E hybrid excavator at the Port of Stuttgart. With its energy-efficient design and state-of-the-art technology, the excavator reflects Rhenus’ commitment to innovation and sustainability over 66 years of operation at the port.
The hybrid excavator is equipped with an energy recovery system, which allows energy savings of up to 30% compared to conventional models. With a power of 10 kW and its own transformer, it is adapted for port operations, delivering high performance of up to 300 tonnes per hour and a lifting capacity of over 15 tonnes. The quick changeover of attachments allows the excavator to efficiently handle a wide range of tasks at the terminal, including the handling of scrap metal, construction materials and soil. In addition, the new excavator will be able to service the entire 840-metre quay, replacing three outdated cranes that had been in service for 66 years.
