The eco-friendly cruise liner Mein Schiff 7 arrived at the port of Riga for the first time.

The new cruise ship Mein Schiff 7 of the German company TUI Cruises visited the port of Riga for the first time. Commissioned in June this year, the 316-meter-long and 35.8-meter-wide ship is one of the largest ships calling at the port this season. The liner can accommodate 2,896 passengers and 1,447 crew members. This is the first ship in the Mein Schiff fleet to run on methanol and the future “green” methanol, making it virtually carbon neutral.

Mein Schiff 7 brought 2,879 tourists from various cities in Germany to Riga. According to tradition, a special ceremony was held at the port with the participation of the ship’s captain and representatives of the port, during which they exchanged commemorative signs.

Mein Schiff 7 features a number of design changes compared to previous ships in the fleet, including new cabin categories and special restaurants. The vessel is equipped with emission-reducing catalysts and a shore power system, allowing it to operate virtually emission-free in port.
