The “Hamburg-Odessa Port Bridge” alliance, comprising various aid organizations, companies, and associations from Hamburg, has dispatched vital relief supplies to a children’s hospital in the Odessa region. This initiative stems from the enduring partnership between the Port of Hamburg and the Ukrainian Port of Odessa, notably through the operation of the Container Terminal Odessa (CTO) by Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) for over two decades.
Pooling resources, the alliance, including “Der HAFEN HILFT”, the Ukrainian Relief Corps, HHLA, the Humanitarian Logistics Organisation (HLO), and Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V., rallied support for Odessa and its war-affected region, mobilizing donations across their networks. These contributions facilitated the procurement of essential medical supplies, food, and technology for the children’s hospital. The HHLA is overseeing the transportation of these supplies from Hamburg’s Altenwerder Container Terminal to Odessa, utilizing its European logistics network, including rail subsidiary Metrans. The Odessa Military Administration’s humanitarian coordination team will manage the distribution upon the aid’s arrival in the Black Sea port.
