The Senate of Kazakhstan approved three key laws aimed at strengthening transport ties with China. The approved laws include the ratification of an agreement on international road transport between the two countries, as well as two agreements on the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
Senator Andrei Lukin emphasized the importance of these laws, noting that in 2023, the volume of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian route increased by 65%, reaching 2.7 million tons. This growth confirms the growing efficiency and demand for the route, reducing the delivery time of goods from Asia to Europe to 18 days, which is twice as fast as a year earlier.
Ratification of the agreements is also aimed at increasing the volume of container trains transported between China and Europe through Kazakhstan, improving safety and efficiency of transportation through the exchange of data on rolling stock. The introduction of guaranteed traffic volumes and joint work on the development of the route’s infrastructure are planned to increase its capacity and reliability.
