Both vessels are designed to transport railway vehicles directly without the need for reloading, supporting rail freight flows between Sweden and Germany across the Baltic Sea. This service is the last remaining train ferry connection from Sweden.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Assignment for the Swedish Transport Administration\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Swedish Government has tasked the Swedish Transport Administration with taking the necessary measures to secure the continuation of the train ferry service. The assignment is part of Sweden\u2019s preparations to support military mobility requirements connected to its NATO membership.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish Armed Forces view this connection as essential for the rapid movement of military units and equipment. The assignment is also aligned with Sweden\u2019s total defence planning and host nation support commitments.<\/p>\n<p>The Swedish Transport Administration is required to carry out the task in consultation with the Swedish Armed Forces and to obtain input from the Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB).
