This is the first stage of the implementation of the broad gauge (1520 mm) line connecting Riga Central Station with RIX International Airport. The work includes updating the contact network, signaling systems and building new passenger platforms with comfortable and accessible infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The project is being implemented within the framework of the \u201cRIX\u2013RCS\u2013Ogre\u201d and \u201cModernization of Passenger Rail Infrastructure\u201d programs, aimed at improving the mobility of the Latvian population and integrating regional routes. Thanks to the new line, passengers from the regions of Latvia, as well as Lithuania and Estonia, will be able to reach the airport with one transfer.<\/p>\n<p>The modernization will affect the Tor\u0146akalns and Zasulauks stations, the Imanta and Depot stops, and if funding is available, a new \u201cAgenskalns\u201d platform will be built. The project is financed by the EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021\u20132027.
