The 150,000 m\u00b2 facility, which has produced over 250,000 freight cars for 35 countries, will cease operations, affecting around 700 employees.<\/p>\n<p>The decision was the result of an in-depth analysis of the European market and the optimization of production capacities. Production will be concentrated in Greenbrier\u2019s two other Romanian plants, Caracal (225,000 m\u00b2) and Drobeta-Turnu Severin (93,000 m\u00b2). These plants will continue to provide products for European and international customers.<\/p>\n<p>Greenbrier Europe, headquartered in Swidnica, Poland, was established in 2017 after acquiring 75% of AstraRail Industries for \u20ac60 million.
