Moller \u2013 Maersk (Maersk) has welcomed its new methanol-capable dual-fuel container ship in Singapore. The vessel, named A.P. M\u00f8ller after the company\u2019s founder Arnold Peter M\u00f8ller, is the ninth methanol-capable vessel in Maersk\u2019s fleet. The naming ceremony was conducted by Robert Uggla, Chairman of Maersk, in the presence of senior Singapore government officials, customers and employees.<\/p>\n<p>Built at Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea, the A.P. M\u00f8ller can carry up to 16,592 TEU. It is part of a series of 18 large methanol-capable vessels scheduled to enter service in 2024-2025. Maersk has already commissioned seven such vessels in 2024. Also in July 2023, Singapore saw the first methanol bunkering vessel for the Laura Maersk, highlighting Singapore\u2019s importance as a key hub for alternative fuels.<\/p>\n<p>These vessels are part of Maersk\u2019s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040. Low-emission methanol reduces greenhouse gases by 65% \u200b\u200bcompared to traditional fuels. The company actively supports the International Maritime Organization\u2019s (IMO) initiatives to regulate the market to make the use of sustainable alternatives more competitive.<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A.P.
