Two years ago, DB Cargo developed an innovative shuttle concept specifically for BASF, which combines flexibility and reliability. The contract was recently extended for another two years, underlining the success and demand for this logistics scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The shuttle concept involves forming block trains at the BASF plant in Ludwigshafen, where the chemicals are loaded into special wagons. As the train travels to Schwarzheide, it makes a stop at the marshalling hub in Halle, where some of the wagons are uncoupled for BASF\u2019s regional customers, while the bulk of the cargo continues on its way.
