By enabling docked ships to tap into the local electricity grid, shore power minimizes emissions of CO2, nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides, and particulate matter, fostering improved air quality and reduced environmental noise in port areas.<\/p>\n<p>AET\u2019s commitment to environmental stewardship is underscored by its decision to install two fixed shore power connections specifically catering to car carriers and conro vessels, despite the absence of a European obligation for ro-ro and con-ro vessels until 2030. Spearheaded by HOPaS (High voltage Onshore Power As a Service), a consortium comprising Techelec, Yuso, and Whitewood, the initiative represents a collaborative effort towards sustainable maritime infrastructure. With a total capacity of 5MW, the project boasts a \u20ac25 to \u20ac30 million investment, partially subsidized by the Flemish agency for innovation (VLAIO).<\/p>\n<p>The integration of renewable energy sources, including wind turbines and solar panels, underscores AET\u2019s commitment to green energy production and storage.
