Starting from 150 tons, they gradually increased the lifting capacity to 600 tons using RoRo and conventional LoLo vessels. We cover routes from Western Europe to the Black Sea, reaching the ports of Constanta, Varna and Burgas, and also have offices in Passau, Germany, and in Russia.

The main activity is the route from Germany to Russia, but Donaustar also cooperates with partners to transport goods from Russia to Constanta, Varna and Burgas. The flagship RoRo vessel, the largest on the Danube, provides the opportunity to transport cargo in many European cities, including Passau, Enns, Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava. Europe’s inland waterways make it possible to deliver goods from various countries in Northern and Western Europe to Passau, from where the company sends them to the Black Sea and further east through the Main-Danube Canal.

“On our vessel we successfully load piece cargo up to 600 tons. We operate on unequipped shores, collaborating with partners from various countries, including Bulgaria. We recently loaded transformers weighing up to 350 tons from one Bulgarian port to another, and also successfully equipped a site for unloading a 260-ton transformer from Bratislava,” shared Veselin Rubcev.

Donaustar has experience in multimodal transport, such as transporting transformers from Zagreb by rail to Bratislava and then by ship. Specializing in cargo transportation of various types, the company efficiently handles a variety of cargo, including blades up to 78 meters long and containers, providing a high level of service and reliable transportation.

After the speech, there was a question from the audience: “A question regarding the period: how is it on the Danube, about summer, how does it dry out there, is there shallow water?”

“It doesn’t concern us, even though it sounds wrong. The normal width of river vessels is 11.40 meters, and this vessel has 22.80. That is, the area is very large. And when the others are standing still, we go, because the draft is 1.40-1.50 maximum. In addition, there are ballast tanks, so we go all year round,” answered Veselin Rubcev.

Veselin Rubcev, General Manager of Donaustar, said that the company was founded in 1995 and specializes in the transportation of oversized and heavy cargo.
