With a duration of 33 months and the participation of 10 project partners from 8 EU countries, including Italy, Slovenia, France, and Spain, RENEWPORT prioritizes the transition to clean energy to enhance climate resilience.

Through pilot actions and investment measures, RENEWPORT focuses on sustainable development, particularly in the Port of Rijeka, where a photovoltaic power plant will be constructed on the administration building’s roof. This plant, with a capacity of 50 to 60 kW, is expected to cover approximately half of the port’s energy needs from green sources, contributing significantly to the project’s overall objectives.

Preceding initiatives, such as the replacement of external air conditioning units with an internal system and the introduction of electric vehicles with charging stations, demonstrate the Port of Rijeka Authority’s commitment to environmental sustainability. With European co-financing of 80% and a total budget of €2.995.300, the RENEWPORT project represents a collaborative effort toward harnessing renewable energy potential for a cleaner energy transition in Mediterranean ports.

The RENEWPORT initiative, approved for funding under the Interreg Euro-MED Program, aims to combat climate change by leveraging renewable energy sources in Mediterranean ports.
